Yard Shed

Five things to do before you install a yard shed.

So you have decided to install a yard shed. But have you made your yard ready to install a portable building? Getting your installation site ready can make your shed installation effortless and the future maintenance of your new building easier. Take a few minutes and perform these five steps because they will help you more than you know.

Step 1: Make sure your ground is level.

Take five to ten minutes to examine your building site to ensure that the area is level. If it is not, level it up. An unleveled ground can cause many issues. Some of these can result in a shorter life of your shed, tweaked doors, and cracks in your building. Leveling the ground will also make the building go up faster.

Step 2: Clear away any debris.

A year is full of debris like weeds, branches, tree stumps, shrubs, etc. Make sure the space for your yard shed is free of rubble. You can also lay down artificial turf or landscape fabric to discourage any weeds growing under your shed. These simple add ons will also discourage pests from burrowing inside your shed.

Step 3: Make room for installation.

Installation crews recommend at least two feet of space around the shade for building it and ease of access for you later on. Ensure that you aren't placing your new building too close to your property line and have enough space to access it later. We recommend that you consult your homeowner's association before installing your yard shed.

Step 4: Check the height.

If you are going to install the shed close to your home, make sure you keep the height of the new building in mind. You must have at least one foot of space between your house's roof and the roof of your new building.

Step 5: Consider if you need a sturdier base.

Concrete pads, floor tiles, or concrete can help you get a sturdier base for your building. You can get a building without a floor and get more headroom in your yard shed with a concrete floor. Our installation teams can easily attach your new building to concrete floors.
